Bismillah.
Dear brother, first of all, I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read my book and provide such an in-depth analysis. I appreciate your constructive criticism and recognize that it comes from a place of concern for accuracy in Islamic discourse. However, I believe there are certain points where the book's content has not been fully understood.
The main purpose of this book is to encourage people to reason and think critically while seeking the truth, ensuring that they do not fall into the traps set by Satan. The Qur’an, the life of our Prophet (peace be upon him), and authentic hadiths have been presented as guides on this journey. Of course, as a human being, I may have shortcomings, and I genuinely appreciate the guidance of knowledgeable brothers like you. But please know that before writing this book, I spent many years researching and reflecting, carefully selecting the most reliable sources.
Perhaps a better way to phrase it would be: "This book explores the path to Islam and the Sunnah." Because I fully agree that explaining Islam and the Sunnah requires strict adherence to authentic Qur’anic and Prophetic sources. That is why the verses and hadiths included in the book were chosen with great care.
However, it is important to note that this book is primarily intended as a guide for those who are new to Islam, rather than for knowledgeable scholars. Its goal is to help prevent those unfamiliar with Islam from being misled by external influences and to direct them towards the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Your statement that "The author approaches Islamic topics from a philosophical perspective but does not provide strong references to the Qur’an and Sunnah." seems to stem from an incomplete reading of the book. The Qur’an and hadith are actually fundamental to the book's content. If you believe there are additional references that should be included, I would be more than happy to consider adding them to future editions.
Another key point is the distinction between "thinking" and "reasoning" (akl). The book aims to clarify this difference. Have you ever considered how many times the concept of "reasoning" (akl) is mentioned in the Qur’an? Throughout history, some have sought to create a society that merely obeys without question. However, the Qur’an calls us to be a community that reasons, questions, and seeks the truth.
Regarding your claim that "In the section on seeking Allah, the author discusses spirituality without referencing Qur’anic or Prophetic guidance," this is a topic on which dozens of books could be written! But the purpose of this book is not to provide exhaustive details on every aspect of spirituality—it is simply a signpost guiding readers towards the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.
As for the section on Islamic economics, you mentioned that this part had a significant impact on you. To fully grasp its message, I recommend studying the Seerah (biography of the Prophet, peace be upon him). The Prophet’s approach to trade and economic justice contains many principles that have been forgotten in today’s world.
Finally, I completely agree with your statement that "when discussing Islam, we must ensure that everything we say is backed by clear Islamic evidence." However, when emphasizing "balance," I see that the book has been critiqued without fully grasping its core message. The book is actually built around progressing on our path in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah while using reasoning to overcome the obstacles placed in our way by Satan.
And most interestingly, in the final part of your response, you have actually summarized the main theme of my book yourself!
"Islam encourages deep understanding, but it also requires precision and caution in interpretation. A believer should think, question, and analyze, but always with reliance on the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the correct methodology of the scholars."
This is exactly what I was trying to convey!
In conclusion, I appreciate your feedback, but I encourage you to read the book once again. Because, in reality, the principles you advocate are already deeply embedded within the book’s foundation.
With peace and Dua !.
