One Verse a Day: Journey Through the Qur’an | #4
As-salamu alaykum everyone!
Today, we continue with the next verse of Surah Al-Fatiha:
مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Māliki Yawmi Ad-Dīn
(Master of the Day of Judgment.)
For most of my life, I heard people talk about the Day of Judgment as a terrifying event, a day of panic, fear, and uncertainty. I imagined people standing, completely lost, not knowing what would happen to them. The way it was described to me made it feel like something overwhelmingly dark.
But in the past few years, I came across something that completely changed my perspective. For the believers, comfort comes much earlier than we think.
Allah tells us in the Qur’an:
"Indeed, those who say: ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remain steadfast – the angels will descend upon them (at the time of death) saying: ‘Do not fear and do not grieve, but receive glad tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.’"
(Surah Fussilat 41:30)
SubhanAllah. The believers will already be reassured when the Angel of Death comes for them. The moment their soul is taken, they will know what awaits them. This verse suddenly turned my fears into hope.
Of course, the Day of Judgment is a day of great accountability, but it is also a day when Allah’s justice and mercy will be fully revealed. For those who lived with sincerity, who sought Allah, who trusted in Him, this will not be a day of panic, but a day of relief.
What comes to your mind when you read this verse? Have you ever thought about the Day of Judgment in this way?
